We are privileged..Thank the Almighty!

Hey friends. i am back!! And with something that i wrote many years ago. I wrote this when i saw the 4 kids of my maid sharing a piece of biscuit and realised how privileged we are..just felt like sharing this on the blog so here it is..

  THE CURSE OF POVERTY

Poverty is a curse..yes that's what it is!!
People living under the shadows of darkness, far away from any thoughts of bliss.
When a small child in shabby clothes sleeps on the road in a winter night
Doesnt anyone feel the pain,an urge to remove this curse with all their might?
When parents toil hard whole day to get a meal for their kids and family
and then go home, distribute the food and themselves sleeps hungry
We dont get our favourite dress and complain that life is bloody unfair
But never give a thought about those who are living every moment in despair.
The tragedy of the poor is that they can afford nothing but self denial
For them, saying no to their dreams becomes a daily ritual.
In a span of time, the dreams in their eyes die a natural death
as the prayers to sustain themselves become a part of each breath.
For these people two meals a day is the definition of ultimate happiness,
How can they dream big ,try to get some education or success?
When each day of their life, they have to work to survive.
They cant afford any fun or holidays if they have to stay alive.
What can they contribute to the success  or development of the nation
When all they can think about is their worst fear of starvation.
In a country where almost half of the population live below the line of poverty
What is the scope of development until we eradicate this completely?
For getting to the root of poverty it requires great deal of efforts
We have to step out of our own shell of luxuries and comforts
We need to change the dimensions of our thinking.
To free people from the clutches of poverty
The only weapon we can use is literacy.
When you educate people, you show them a way to live
Spread knowledge as that is the best that you can give
Try to remove illiteracy and poverty
and India would be a much better place to live!

PS-Whenever you can,try to educate a child..u never know how you can change their lives.
Thanks for reading :)
